Das zweite Bundesligaspiel der  Celten fand am Samstag dem 17. Oktober in Innsbruck statt und das Aufeinandertreffen hatte für die Kampfmannschaft der Wiener eine hohe Brisanz in sich, wurde doch das letzte Auswärtsspiel gegen die Tiroler im März 2009 eindeutig mit 90 : 5 verloren. Für die junge Mannschaft der Wanderers, die es erstmals in der Clubgeschichte schaffte, ein vollwertiges Team, noch dazu bei einem Auswärtsspiel auf die Beine zustellen, war es das dritte Spiel der laufenden Saison indem man die Siegesserie gegen den 1. ORSC Espoir und die Mannschaft von NÖ XV fortsetzen wollte.

 Celtic Ready For Battle Vienna Celtic First XV look to make up for the huge losses suffered to Innsbruck in the previous season. With a tremendous start to the season the Celtic First XV defeated RC McDonalds ÖÖ 39:0 at their home ground in Linz about two weeks ago. RC McDonalds ÖÖ in-turn defeated RC Goldbet Innsbruck in the first round of the 1. Budesliga. It is with this in mind and the enormous amount of preparation from players, coaches and organisers that the Vienna Celtic First XV goes into this match with huge expectations. Whilst the First team prepare for their second encounter, the newly formed 2. Bundesliga team "Vienna Celtic Wanderers" can already boast 2 wins this season. Defeating Linz 15:10 in the first round, followed by a well deserved 26:17 win over NÖ XV. They too go into battle in the third round of the 2. Budesliga this weekend against Innsbrucks newly formed 2. Bundeliga team "RC Tiroler Böck". Vienna Celtic Wanderers Captain Antonio de Vall is very confident in leading this very young upcoming team into battle this week-end. Vienna Celtic Veterans vs. Royston Veterans Whilst the youngsters take their battles to the west of Austria, the Vienna Celtic Veterans (old Boys) will stay in Vienna and defend the Celtic honour against a touring team from England "Royston Veterans". Although our old boys are not as well prepared as our other teams we trust that their experience will make up for their lack of fitness. The match has attracted some of our players from abroad at it is in this sense that we know that the 3rd half will be played as hard if not harder than the first two on the field.  Letzten Samstag (26.09.2009) war es endlich soweit! Vienna Celtic startete mit den Vienna Celtic Wanderers in der 2ten Österreichischen Rugby Liga und es sollte ein erfolgreicher Start werden. Nachdem das A- Team die Erste Mannschaft der Linzer klar besiegt hatte wollten die Wanderers dem um nichts nachstehen.
Es sollte keine leichte Aufgabe für das neu formierte Team rund um Team Kapitän Toni de Vall werden. In der Anfangsphase der ersten Hälfte taten sich die Wanderers schwer ins Spiel zu kommen da einige der jungen und neuen Spieler kaum Spielerfahrung hatten. So kam es zu Beginn zu einer Feldüberlegenheit der Linzer. Die Kelten wehrten sich tapfer mussten jedoch trotzdem mit ansehen wie die Oberösterreicher mit 5:0 in Führung gingen.... |
