 The 2009/2010 Rugby Season kicks of next week-end for many teams in the league, with Celtic fielding its first matches against Linz on the weekend of 26/27 September (exact date and times for this match are still to be finalized).
Celtic will for the first time be hosting two men teams in the league. The newly formed Celtic Wanderers will be representing us in the 2nd division this year.
After a good few sessions of training during the summer break we are happy to say that we start out our regular trainings again with a semi-fit group of very enthusiastic rugby players. This was also projected last week in the Gernot Geppert Memorial Cup where Vienna Celtic XV was able to secure 2nd place, losing to Stade Viennois in the final (Congratulations to Stade). Our second team secured 6th place and fielded many old boys who have not seen a pitch in many a year, amongst them where also many new comers who delivered some spectacular rugby.
From the above informations it is only fair to say that we expect some good competitive rugby to be played by both our teams this season, and thank all those who continue to support us in our quest.
Please Remember that we are always in search of new talent so if you would like to try out rugby do not hesitate to contact us here and come and join us for one of our trainings which are held near Schönnbrunn every Tuesday and Thursday at 20:00 (For directions click here ) ....

Gernot Geppert Memorial Cup 2009 |

 This day is for the remembrance of our dear friend and rugby mate Gernot Geppert. As in the past 4 years, this tournament is also a charity event, all daily incomes will be donated to the Austrian Bone Marrow Register. This organisation is the most important link between leukemia patients and stem cell donors. With our money they can update the austrian database to make sure every patient finds the correct donor.
In the name of the Austrian Register we would like to thank you for the effort and the donations!!! Food and drinks are sold at the premises, as well as the brand new Vienna Celtic Merchandise - all this income will also be donated. As in the past years, we will do a raffle after the final, tickets are sold throughout the day - be sure to get your ticket as we have very attractive prizes !!!! So we hope to see a lot of you there, be it as player or spectator - Old Boys are very welcome to bring their boots !!!! |

Once again Celtic is proud to have been invited to our annual Capitals Cup this year held in Moscow, please take the time off to join us on this legendary tour. below the official invite. Moscow Dragons Rugby club is extremely proud to be hosting the 12th Capitals Cup Competition here in Moscow. As you know, it is a hotly contested competition between the crème de la crème of Expatriate rugby teams from Eastern Europe. The current holders of this esteemed trophy are the Warsaw Frogs who saw off some stiff competition from the Dragons. Over the years the Capitals Cup has welcomed teams from Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, St Petersburg and Moscow and this year will see another tough competition. The tournament will take place on Saturday 12th September 2009 with a glitz and glamor awards dinner taking place at a salubrious establishment in Moscow - - Friday 11th September – Teams Arrive (All Day)
