After Saturday, March 7th the Winter break is officially history. The first Training Game of the year took place in Wr Neustadt. 24 Celts went on the short trip to the south to get back on the rugby pitch. The Vienna Celtic Coaching Staff used the game to give new players a chance to prove themself on the pitch and tried some players on new postions. The wind did not really help, developing a constant flow in the game, but the game was good for what it was supposed to be: a training game. A few new names made it on the Vienna Celitc Try Scorer List and the game ended with a score of 32:21 for VCRFC. Thanks to NÖXV for organising the game (we all know how hard it is at that time of the year) and Ronald for spending his saturday whistling in the cold. Our best wishes for a fast recovery go out to Vienna Celitcs Full Back Matthieu. |

This Saturday Vienna Celtic kick Off the second half of the 2008/2009 Season with a friendly match against Krems, planned was to have a game against a USA team last week but due to bad weather conditions and some other factors this match had to be cancelled. We are hoping to use this game to let all players have some playing time so that the coaches can recognise the strengths and weaknesses of the players. We do not know what to expect from the Krems side and with the bad weather conditions in the previous weeks we have not had many successfull trainings, we hope to make the best out of this match in preperation for the Vienna League match against Donau next week followed by the Powerade League match against Innsbruck in Innsbruck the week thereafter. 2009 Training & Seasons Begin |

After a long winter break we are looking to begin training again starting on Tuesday the 10th of February. We hope to see many new and old faces as we already have a pretty busy schedule for the upcoming months and will need all the manpower we can get. Besides having our poweraid League matches we now additionaly have grounded a so called “Vienna League“ which will include all three Vienna teams. We will also be holding a number of friendly matches against some very strong opposition from other european nations. The sevens league will play a big part of the Austrian league as well this season and we look forward to put up a very competetive team for this. For the new players, the long awaited 6 nations tournament kicks off on the 7th of February, I would like to take the oppertunity to invite you down to our favourite pub „Flanagans Irish Pub“ on the 7th to get yourselves aquanted with some of the other players, kickoff should be around 15:00. I hope you all had some good rest over the winter break and look forward to playing by yoursides in the upcoming season... |

Dear Celts, a successful and historical year comes to its end; We have celebrated our 30th anniversary and experienced another great year of Rugby on and off the pitch. In name of Vienna Celtic RFC I would like to wish you all Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2009!!! I would like to thank everybody who is supporting the club and I am really looking forward seeing you all back again in january. Well, its a Grand old team to play for… cheers Antonio (Chairman)
U18 Christmas Dinner took place on Dec 19th in Flanagans (Thanks to Fuzzy and his team)
