35th Anniversary Tournament
The 35th anniversary tournament last Saturday (7.9.2013) was a special day to all Celts!
The whole story began on friday evening in our living room, the Flanagans Pub, where the past and the today of the club met to socialise before the day of the tournament.
Old and young enjoyed a great night.
On saturday the tournament took place at the ground in Atzgersdorf, where some tired Celts met in the late morning to get their boots on to play some games of Rugby.
The tournament started with a juniors game, where the young Celts played the Under 18 team of RC Donau. Later on Vienna Celtic first team played a tournament versus RC Kecskemet and RC Donau.
The absolute highlight of the day was the Veterans game of the old Celts versus the Old boys of Lycee Francais (today called Stade Viennois).
Fair play to our french friends, they won the Rugby game but, following and old tradition, where destroyed in the boat race after the final whistle.
And so the party moved on to the Ottakringer brewery, the traditional place for glorious Celtic parties of the last decade.
There the award cermonies of the tournament where held, and emotional speeches of 2 founding members of Vienna Cletic, Will Crisp and John Skinner proved that the Celtic spirit is and will always be unique.
Not much more to be said; the night was long and sometimes loud; stories where told, some beers and other refrshing drinks found their way into some Celts and way too sonn a weekend to remember was over!
We would like to thank everyone who participated, especially the people who made the effort to travel in from abroad.

New Youth Team
During the first months of the 2012/2013 season, Vienna Celtic RFC started building a new youth team under the coaches Daan de Vaal (Backs) and Stefan Schauer (Forwards). After just a few practices the new under 18 team played their first 7s tournament in Krems against the youth teams of Melk, Krems and the women's national team. The second tournament, it was 15s this time, was played in Vienna against RU Donau, RC Stade Viennois and the Vienna International School. Unfortunately both tournaments were lost. The end of the autumn season was marked by a tied 10s game against Melk. The second half of the season, there were no practices for the U18-Celts due to difficulties with finding a new training venue, and the fact that forwards coach Stefan Schauer passed away.
This season, we are looking forward to a great season with a young and growing U18 team. The training will kick off on the 3rd of September in Atzgersdorf and the first games are going to be the 35th anniversary tournament in Vienna on the 7th of September and on the 28th of September there will be a game against the U18 team of the Melk Spartans in Melk.
